General & Preventive Dentistry
Restoring damaged teeth to their normal shape and function.
A cavity doesn't always announce itself. Early decay is often symptomless, which is exactly why routine checkups catch problems while they're still small and simple to treat.
When a filling is needed, we offer amalgam, gold, and tooth-coloured composite options, matched to the location of the tooth and how much of it needs rebuilding.
Watch for sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweet foods, pressure or pain when biting down, a visible hole or dark spot, or a rough edge you can feel with your tongue — any of these is a good reason to get checked rather than wait.

General & Preventive Dentistry: common questions
How often should I have a dental checkup?
Every six months suits most people. Your dentist may suggest a shorter or longer interval depending on your risk of decay and gum disease.
How do I know if I need a filling?
Sensitivity to hot, cold or sweet foods, pain when biting, a visible hole or dark spot, or a rough edge you can feel are common signs. Early decay often causes no symptoms at all, which is why checkups matter.
Which type of filling is best?
It depends on the tooth and how much of it needs rebuilding. We offer tooth-coloured composite, amalgam and gold fillings, and will recommend one after examining the tooth.
Does getting a filling hurt?
The area is numbed with a local anaesthetic first, so you should feel pressure rather than pain. Some sensitivity for a few days afterwards is normal.
